Parents all over the country bought their children clothing, shoes, supplies, lunch boxes and backpacks for school. All of these items can cost hundreds of dollars. For boys and girls who's parents can't afford necessary supplies, the beginning of school can actually be a discouraging time. They are afraid they won't have what they need for the academic year. For a group of children, this worry was eliminated thanks to the generosity of Eric Schaer.
Eric Schaer Established A School Drive
To help these disadvantaged youngsters, Eric Schaer implemented a school drive, asking individuals and families to donate backpacks and school supplies. Eric Schaer bought displays and sought permission at local grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants and retail outlets to place the boxes. He then advertised on websites, community radio stations, cable channels, and newspapers. In addition, Eric Schaer tweeted about the philanthropy effort to his hundreds of followers.
People from all throughout the county brought pencils, paper, notebooks, rulers, pens, glue, crayons, markers, lunch boxes and backpacks to the drop off locations. Eric Schaer was overwhelmed at the generosity of the community. He then organized a community event where parents and kids could come in and shop for their own supplies. The kids were able to choose their own backpacks, pencils, crayons and more, much like they could at a regular retail store. The smiles on their faces were all the thanks Eric Schaer needed for his efforts.
